When I was 17 years old, inspired by the linear drums of Franz Ferdinand and emotions of Bloc Party, myself and my best friends started a little indie-rock band called Desmond and the Tutus. I can't remember why we started the band in the first place but I know that we didn't expect it to still be part of our lives 17 years later. As Desmond and the Tutus we have toured Japan 3 times, written and released 4 albums, played shows and festivals around Europe and headlined just about every major festival and venue in South Africa. We even won a South African Music Award for Best Rock Album in 2016.

I play drums in Desmond and the Tutus but I am also the band's manager where I ensure that no big bad corporate music guys take advantage of us. I have a side project, as most drummers do, called Yo Grapes where I write, produce and perform indie-pop and some other acoustic love songs.

Here are some things to listen to and watch for a better idea:

> Desmond and the Tutus - Lazy Bones
> Desmond and the Tutus - What Am I Gonna Do With You
> Yo Grapes - Holiday
> Yo Grapes - Real Name
